Relaxing Hair with Motions Silkening Shine Relaxer System
Motions makes it easy to relax your hair fabulously. Just follow these simple steps to ensure your hair is relaxed properly and conditioned perfectly.
Tools Needed:
- Wide Tooth Comb
- Kitchen Timer or Clock
- Petroleum Jelly
- Towels
- Hair Clips/Clamps
-
- Protect Always safeguard hairline and skin: apply petroleum jelly or other petroleum‐based protectant to hairline before relaxer application.
- Pre‐Condition Wearing your gloves, protect the relaxed portion of your hair with the Pre‐Treatment Conditioner. The Conditioner is the perfect step before the relaxing process. It conditions the relaxed portion of your hair and protects it against over processing—in the event you accidentally overlap your relaxer applications. However, if hair has never been relaxed, the Pre-Treatment Conditioner step is unnecessary.
- Section Hair Using hair clips or clamps, part hair into four sections so it's easier to manage during the relaxing process.
- Mix It Up Next, pour the pink Conditioning Gel Activator into the No Lye Relaxer Crème— thoroughly mix until no sign of pink streaks exist. When the crème is a consistent shade of light pink, the relaxer has been mixed thoroughly and successfully.
- Confirm Time Check the kit instructions to confirm the length of time relaxer should remain in your hair. Timing is based on the texture grade of your hair.
- Apply Relaxer Starting at the back of the hair, apply the relaxer to the portions of the hair that are unrelaxed (note: if hair has never been relaxed previously, relaxer should be applied throughout).
- Rinse Once relaxer has remained in the hair for the recommended amount of time, rinse hair thoroughly until all relaxer is removed.
- Neutralize Apply Neutralizing Shampoo with Color Code. Shampoo until suds are white. The shampoo will change color—from pink to white—to indicate that all the relaxer has been removed.
- Rinse Now rinse until all shampoo is removed.
- Strengthen Apply the Silkening Conditioning Masque throughout the hair to condition and strengthen hair after the relaxing process.
- Condition Leave the masque on hair for 5 – 7 minutes (for ultra‐deep conditioning, leave on hair for 45 minutes).
- The Last Rinse Rinse hair thoroughly until the masque is removed.
- Nourish Apply Leave‐In Conditioner, and do not rinse. Conditioning hair is a vital step—it will fortify and further moisturize hair before styling.
- Ready for Fabulous! Style hair as desired—experiment and have fun! Whatever your style, you'll be fabulous and runway‐ready.

Creating the Perfect
Motions WrapWrapping hair is another great way to achieve a chic, straight look. You'll be a wrap star in no time with Motions step‐by‐step guide to wrapping hair in style.
Tools Needed:
- Wide Tooth Comb
- Hooded Dryer
- Hair Clips
-
- Shampoo & Condition Start with freshly shampooed hair. We recommend Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo and Moisture Plus Conditioner to give hair the optimal level of hydration and nourishment.
- Wrap Apply Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion while hair is still wet. Beginning at the center of your head, wrap hair by using a wide‐tooth comb to gently comb hair straight down and around your head in a clockwise direction. As you continue to wrap hair around your head, keep hair smooth without any ripples—this enables you to comb your hair out easily when you're done. When you've finished wrapping, your head will have a "beehive"‐like or sleek “spiral” shape.
- Secure Hold hair in place by using clips and/or a hair wrap.
- Set Sit under the dryer until hair is completely dry.
- Comb Out Comb hair out in the opposite direction of the wrap.
- The Shining Finish For a more polished look, use Motions Oil Sheen and Conditioning Spray to add super‐glossy shine. For the perfect finishing touch—and to ensure your hair stays fabulous—use Motions Light Hold Working Spritz.
Motions Fab Tip: If necessary, apply a shaping product such as Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade to keep hair edges smooth and silky.

Making Waves with Hair Clips
Does your style have Hollywood starlet written all over it? Get prepped for prime time with soft glorious waves that highlight your glamour girl persona.
Tools Needed:
- Rat Tail or Small tooth Comb
- Hair Clip extensions
-
- Straight Up The key to creating luscious waves is to start with straightened hair.
- Mane Story Identify where you would like to add waves. Separate hair into small sections in order to add the clip‐ins.
- SecureStart with the sections furthest back in your head and tease the roots of your hair—this will serve as strong‐holds/anchors for the clip‐ins.
- Ready to Set Apply Motions Light Hold Working Spritz to help set hair and provide flexible hold. Next, pop the clips and close them onto the teased roots. Give a slight tug to the clips as you place them to make sure they're held in place securely.
- Hot Style Within the same section of hair, use a 1‐inch barrel curling iron to create loose curls. Wrap the full length of your hair around the barrel of the hot iron and hold for three (3) seconds.
- Clip Chic Continue to put clips in place and curl hair with the curling iron until all sections are done.
- Making Waves Once all extensions have been added and curled, use your fingers to comb or gently “rake” through your hair to loosen and tousle the curls.
- Treat Turn up the shine! Use Motions Oil Sheen and Conditioning Spray to give your newly created waves a luminous glow and provide extra conditioning to your hair.
- Glam Out! Add extra glam to your cascading waves—mist hair with Motions Light Hold Working Spritz for a frizz‐free finish and soft, all‐day hold. Now, you're ready for your close‐up!
